Is Gab a Honeypot?

Well that's a good question isn't it? 

I'm of the opinion that all social media platforms (FB/Twitter), msg.-apps (Tik-Tok/MeWe etc..) and all main stream media commenting systems (Discus), are indeed honeypots to some degree or another. At this point, I think Gab is monitored just as much (if not more) as is Facebook/Twitter by the federal government via their unconstitutional decrees concerning 'deep state' surveillance programs.  This is the reason I choose to stay as anonymous as possible at ANY site, no matter it's stated 'intent'.
This is more important to some that it is to others, and going into the reasons why is beyond the scope of this post. I'll just say this, people have reasons for being anon. and it's not always a nefarious reason, or done w/any nefarious intent. Though, that's not true for all anon. accounts of course, as some do indeed have nefarious intent.

Reading a sites terms of service can give you lots of clues as to how they operate, what they keep, how long they keep it and who they may share any collected data with via third party sales of said data. Some even claim ownership of any content you post and enjoy the right to use and make money from it any way they wish. I advise actually reading the TOS for any site where you have an acct. and are an active member. Understanding your position within that agreement is a good thing, or at least certainly doesn't hurt. This kind of understanding is important in this day and age, as the legal ramifications of certain breaches of those terms can be quite expensive and extensive. The government has all kinds of resources and can spend millions on your prosecution if they desire, but you only have your resources so keep that in mind.

Are you 'safe' on Gab as a verified user? No more than a verified user account on any other social media platform. The important thing is, to stay within the constitutional provisions provided by our country when on Gab whether you're verified using your real name or not. This helps as far as government monitoring. I'm not saying 'keep your mouth shut', I'm saying say what you have to say within the confines of the constitution, otherwise you may become a target of your own government. Also keep in mind, that 'Doxxing' may not be allowed on Gab, but that doesn't stop the 'enemy' from gathering information on you and posting it to another site which doesn't care if someone is 'Doxxing' you. Yes there are laws against it, but they seem to vary from state to state and I wouldn't trust any of them to uphold those laws at this point. There are people out there who wish you harm because of your stance in the arenas of political opinion, morals and ethics issues, justice issues, religious issues, and on and on etc., etc... Make no mistake, given the chance they WILL Doxx, censor, de-platform, de-person you and even make every attempt possible to cause you to lose your source of income. Make no mistake about it, they'll do anything in an attempt to win, including ruin your life if possible.

Gab has been being 'watched' since almost the very beginning by political opponents and Big Tech is included in that scenario as well. I think it intensified even further after the synagogue shooting incident and is now being monitored more than ever. All of that being said, ones best option is simply to abide by the TOS as much as possible while still having your say.

I'm sure many of you don't need to hear this, but there are undoubtedly some out there who need to hear/see this. If you're new to Gab, pay very close attention to those who seem to lose their cool and go on rants that include making threats and/or what the government may perceive as a threat. Don't fall into their game by joining in and ending up a 'suspect'.

Keep your head on a swivel and watch your six, as at this point situational awareness is everything.
